Q: Where can I find the date of manufacture and model number?
Answer: On the back of the seat, you'll find a label with the date of manufacture and model number.

Q: When should my child be moved to a booster seat?
Answer: The SafeGuard Child Seat can accommodate children from 22 - 65 lbs and up to 57". If the child has reached the weight or height limits, we recommend that a child use a booster seat until the vehicle safety belt fits appropriately. If the child sits all the way back against the vehicle seat; the child's knees bend comfortably over the edge of the seat; the lap belt fits snugly and lies across the upper thighs; the shoulder belt lies across the collar bone and center of the chest (without crossing the neck); and the child can stay this way for the entire trip, then your child should be the right size to ride safely without a booster. Some states require that a booster seat be used until the child reaches a specified height, weight, or age.

Q: Why should I register my car seat, and where can I do this?
Answer: Items may be recalled at any time. Without your registration we would have no way to contact you. You can send in the registration card that comes with the seat or register online.

Q: What is the life span of the seat?
Answer: Seven years from the date of manufacture under normal use conditions. This date can be found on a label located on the back of the seat. If your seat is involved in a vehicle crash, you should replace your seat. The seat is designed to absorb energy and redistribute it away from your child. Once it has been in a crash, it may not perform as intended. IMMI offers a replacement program for qualifying SafeGuard Child Seats that have been involved in a vehicle crash.

Q: How should I carry the seat when not in use?
Answer: Attach the tether strap connector to the storage location. Put the strap across your shoulder. Never hold the seat by the harness or the LATCH straps as this can damage the seat and prevent it from working properly.

Q: How can I locate a car seat fitting station?
Answer: Contact the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration's auto safety hotline 1-888-DASH-2-DOT or SafeGuard customer service at 1-800-586-7839 for a location near you.

Q: How do I know if my seat has been recalled?
Answer: Check our website for recall information. Other organizations also post recall lists: Automotive Safety Program at www.preventinjury.org, National SAFEKIDS Campaign at www.safekids.org.

Q: Are there any parts on the seat that will get hot in the sun?
Answer: The buckle and buckle tongues may get hot if left exposed to the sun. Always check the temperature against the back of your hand before placing your child in the seat. Cover the seat while not in use to help prevent possible issues. The buckle pad should also help to protect the child's legs.
